This traditional, lidded basket is woven in South Africa out of ilala palm and wild grasses. They are traditionally used to store home-brewed beer and liquids. It is naturally dyed using mud, leaves, ash, and plants. Each basket is one-of-a-kind and each one tells a story through its pattern.
